DataTrace DNA is a unique nano scale substance that can be blended into the molecular structure of a product to identify and authenticate it in a manner that is similar to a barcode, providing detection and protection against counterfeit.
This exciting technology is a joint venture between DataDot Technology Limited and Australia’s national research and development organization, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
Datatrace DNA works by bonding to a product’s molecular structure and is chemically inert, safe and strong enough to persist in any conditions. This allows it to be added to a wide range of materials to ensure product management, manufacturing process and logistics control, inventory management and control, quality assurance management and control, pollution control and for verifying the authenticity of products and materials.
Multiple applications for manufacturing, coating, and mixing
DatatraceDNA can be incorporated homogeneously in the manufacturing process to enable authentication of a product for its entire lifespan and beyond. Another form of the technology is a spray-on lacquer that can be applied to most materials post-manufacture.
The technology can also be used to test the homogeneity of bulk products by utilizing combinations of our molecular markers and using the portable reader to confirm when mixing has been achieved. This application of DatatraceDNA has widespread implications for efficiency and safety in industries that need to accurately monitor batch mixing, including concrete, paint, chemicals, and explosives.
